The rise of the Wellington vapers
Smokers in Wellington's CBD still outnumber vapers 3:1, but this balance is set to change and policies need to take this into account, say public health researchers at the University of Otago, Wellington. They compared the number of vapers with smokers outside bars and on the pavement in Wellington's Cuba Street, Courtenay Place and along the waterfront over 10 days in May last year. In a research letter, they point out there's no current legislation mandating smokefree or vapefree areas in public places, and future policies on this should consider other people's exposure.
