Making sure Aussies are ready for bushfires
Australian researchers suggest three policies to help ensure Aussies are bushfire ready in the future. They recommend introducing workplace leave on catastrophic fire days, financial incentives to encourage fireproofing of houses, and a review of the diminishing use of firebreaks on farms and rural blocks. These policies should help establish a culture of preparedness as part of everyday life among Aussies, they say.
