Australia's longest continuous cliff line on the southern edge of the Nullarbor Plain, stretches 820 km and may be the longest cliff in the world, according to Australian experts. The cliff, which the researchers have named the Great Southern Scarp, includes the Bunda Cliffs in South Australia, and the Baxter Cliffs in Western Australia. The researchers looked at how the cliff formed and found that their unusual length comes from a combination of processes that may make it globally unique. The researchers say if the Great Southern Scarp was the world’s longest unbroken cliff line, its geoheritage value would likely to be at an international level of significance.
