The Assisted Reproductive Technology in Australia and New Zealand 2013 report, by UNSW’s National Perinatal Epidemiology and Statistics Unit (NPESU), is due out on Friday, and it summarises the changes in techniques and practices we saw between 2008 and 2013, as well as presenting stats on the use and success rates of IVF in Australia

The good news is that Australia is a world leader in assisted reproduction, and one of the safest places in the world to undergo procedures.

The briefing will discuss the following issues:

  • What’s changed in five years?
  • Using frozen rather than fresh embryos for in vitro fertilisation (IVF)
  • Has IVF use increased?
  • What about multiple births?
  • What are the success rates?

SPEAKERS:

  • Associate Professor Mark Bowman is President of the Fertility Society of Australia. Mark is also a gynaecologist and fertility specialist/Medical Director with Genea.
  • Professor Michael Chapman is Vice President of the Fertility Society of Australia (FSA) and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at UNSW’s School of Women's & Children's Health (WCH) and at St George Public Hospital. Michael is a senior fertility specialist with IVFAustralia.
