COVID-19: How is the world responding to the pandemic?

Embargoed until: Publicly released:

As there are currently no approved treatments or preventative strategies for the novel coronavirus, UK researchers have reviewed all of the current registered clinical trials across the globe to provide an overall summary and insight into the global response. The team found trials of antivirals, antimalarials, immunosuppressants and cell or plasma-based therapies are all on the go, as well as a few different drugs that interact with cells in your gut. The team say it is imperative to plough international resources into high-quality design clinical trials, and increasing international collaboration and the globalisation of clinical trials with large patient numbers should be the way forward to give significant and definitive results.
