Biography

Originally from Hamilton, New Zealand, Laura graduated from her PhD in atmospheric chemistry at the University of Canterbury in 2012 then moved to Switzerland after being awarded a postdoctoral research fellowship at ETH Zurich. She re-joined the University of Canterbury as a Lecturer in Environmental Physics in 2018 and became a Senior Lecturer in 2020. She leads a Royal Society of New Zealand Marsden-funded project on airborne microplastics, and is a Principal Investigator for a Deep South National Science Challenge project focussed on clouds and aerosols in the New Zealand Earth System Model. Laura currently also contributes to two MBIE-funded programmes on air pollution and the emergence of climate change in New Zealand.
