Biography

Professor Hepburn is the research director of the law school at Deakin University in Melbourne and is also the Director of the Centre for Energy and Natural Resource Law (CENRL). Professor Hepburn has published and taught extensively in the area of energy and natural resource law. Professor Hepburn has also worked in the law school at the Australian National University. The research areas of Professor Hepburn focus heavily on property and land concepts. She has published numerous books in this area. Her other areas of expertise include: native title jurisprudence, environmental assessment, carbon sequestration rights, climate change regulation, onshore conventional and unconventional gas regulation and policy, and carbon capture regulation and policy. She has been extensively involved with the preparation and submission of the reform and review of existing regulatory structures for onshore gas development in the Eastern states. She has also presented and published her work internationally.
