Biography

Dr Didar Zowghi is Professor of Software Engineering and Director of Women in Engineering and Information Technology (WiEIT) at University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Previously she was Director of research centre for Human-Centred Technology Design (HCTD) and Associate Dean of Research at UTS Faculty of Information Technology. Before academia, she worked in software industry in the UK and Australia as a programmer, software engineer, analyst, consultant, and project manager. Professor Zowghi offers consulting services to the software industry and has established contacts within major software development organizations. Professor Zowghi's research is focused on improving the software development processes and products. In particular, her research addresses issues in the communication rich, multidisciplinary activities of software development, referred to as Requirements Engineering (RE) or Business Analysis. She has conducted and empirical field studies in Global Software Development and Software Process Improvement in collaboration with software development organisations. She has supervised many research students across three universities in Sydney and has received competitive research grants of over $2.5 million from the Australian Research Council. Professor Zowghi is a member of the program committee of many national and international conferences including IEEE International Conference on Requirements Engineering (1998 to 2014) and was its General Chair in 2010, Program Chair in 2015 and currently the chair of its Steering Committee. She is an Associate Editor of IEEE Software, regional editor of Requirements Engineering Journal, and on editorial board of IET Software journal. She has published 180 articles in prestigious conferences and journals and has co-authored papers with 80 different researchers from 25 countries. She is a member of the Affiliated Global Faculty of the Baha'i Institute for Higher Education (BIHE).
