Leg cramps that come at night can be hard to prevent, but international researchers say vitamin K2 supplements have shown promise in a trial in people over 65. About 200 people with regular night cramps participated in the trial - they were monitored for two weeks before the trial to assess how frequently they had cramps, then half were given a vitamin k2 supplement for eight weeks while the other half were given a placebo. The researchers say while both groups had the same average frequency of cramps before they were given the supplements, the vitamin K2 group on average had fewer cramps of lower severity and duration compared to the placebo group over the eight-week period. The researchers say vitamin K2 may be a safe and effective option for reducing leg cramps at night.
