ChatGPT is capable of answering questions about medical advice at a standard that is often higher than what a doctor can provide, according to international researchers who believe AI could play a role in helping overwhelmed doctors draft better, quicker responses to questions. The team asked ChatGPT to answer questions submitted to Reddit's r/AskDocs that had been answered by a verified doctor - and a team of licensed health professionals judged which response had better quality of information and better bedside manner. The team say the ChatGPT response was better for 78.6% of the questions answered, and while a Reddit thread is not the same as a doctor's office, this result shows AI could help doctors deliver information in the best, easiest way in the future.
