No high quality evidence linking hormone contraceptives to poor health outcomes

Links between hormonal contraceptive use and cardiovascular risk, cancer risk, and other major adverse health outcomes are not backed by high-quality evidence, according to a massive review of research. The study was an umbrella review which means it pools together the results of other studies which themselves are analyses of multiple individual studies. Although they found 156 potential links to adverse effects, none of these were supported by high quality evidence. The authors say the results support our current understandings of the risks and benefits associated with hormonal contraceptive use.
