Researchers from WEHI have conducted a comprehensive analysis of global data to better understand how menstrual periods impact work, education and social participation in women and girls in low-to-middle income countries. The study analysed data from over 673,000 women and girls in 44 countries and found that globally about 15% of women miss school or work during their menstrual period; this was higher in adolescents, and most common in South Asia and Africa.
