Is time restricted eating safe to bundle with other diets for people with overweight and obesity?

Spanish researchers suggest that people with overweight or obesity should safely be able to combine time-restricted eating (TRE) schedules with a Mediterranean diet education program known as usual care (UC). The team found, in a clinical trial of close to 200 adults with overweight or obesity, that people who were given TRE in combination with their UC had no significant differences in their sleep, mood or quality of life, when compared with participants who had UC alone. This applied to TRE that was set early in the day, late in the day, or self-selected by the participant, the authors add.
