People with acute myeloid leukaemia, an aggressive blood cancer that can strike at any age, are using Instagram as a way of sharing personal health stories, according to Aussie research. The researchers found that content posted with the hashtags #acutemyeloidleukemia, #acutemyeloidleukaemia and #amlsurvivor, was most often posted by patients themselves and that they were often made as a way for patients to share health updates. The researchers say their results suggest that social media may have a role to play in social connectedness and support.
