US scientists set out to estimate the risk of contracting COVID-19 from someone in your household, and say there's around a one-in-ten risk of catching the disease for other household members. Their findings were based on looking at the risk of infection in more than 7,000 households where someone had COVID-19. Of 17,917 initially healthy household members, 1,809 caught the virus, an overall infection risk of 10.1 per cent, the experts say. Adults and those with existing illnesses were most likely to catch COVID-19 from an infected household member, they add.
