Facemasks and social distancing are key to opening up the economy

Business and travel restrictions could be relaxed if we tightened the rules on facemasks and increased the social distancing compliance level, according to Australian research. The modelling study suggests that the effect of masks on disease spread is greater than social distancing and suggests a higher priority be given to mask usage. The authors say that if 60 per cent of people used face masks we could feasibly open up the economy.
