US scientists followed-up 177 COVID-19 patients for nine months, and say around a third were still experiencing some symptoms, even those who had only had mild disease. Around a third felt their quality of life was still affected by COVID-19-related health issues nine months on, and around one-in-twelve said COVID-19 continued to negatively impact their ability to go about their daily lives, particularly in terms of being able to do household chores. The most commonly-reported specific symptom was fatigue, which affected around one in seven recovered patients. The findings suggest that the health consequences of COVID-19 extend far beyond acute infection, even among those with mild illness, the experts say.
