Aussie women who were given a few female condoms to try out say that they performed about the same or better than the male condom on sensation and lubrication, say Australian researchers. Approximately half of the participants rated the sensation as being as good or better than the male condom, and two-thirds say it provided the same or more lubrication, they say. The investigators say around half of the participants did have trouble inserting the femidom, though less than half of them watched an instructional video on it. Around half of the women said they would consider using one again, or recommend them to others, say the researchers who add that their findings definitely highlight the need for increased health promotion and education regarding the use of the female condom.
