One-third of young adults between 18 and 24 in the US who use vapes tried to quit in 2022, according to international researchers. The team say the most popular quitting method involved support from friends and family, while only 7% used evidence-based smoking cessation interventions, including nicotine replacement therapy or prescription cessation medications. 10% of young adults reported using nicotine product substitution such as cigarettes, or nicotine pouches - which require more research as a harm reduction strategy, the authors say.
