Having an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine and an influenza vaccine at the same time could increase the chances of side-effects, according to an international study of self-reported vaccination data from over 980,000 people. The survey found that compared with people who received the COVID-19 mRNA booster alone, people who received a simultaneous seasonal influenza vaccine were significantly more likely to report reactions such as fatigue, headache, and muscle soreness. An accompanying editorial indicates that while the results are significant, a placebo trial may be required to ensure that the results reflect an actual reaction to the combination of vaccines.
