Mobile apps that support new parents might not work as well as hoped

Mobile phone apps that provide prenatal and postnatal support might not work, according to international researchers. The team analysed available research, including research from Australia, which looked at different apps and their effects on psychosocial and parenting outcomes during the perinatal period, and found parents experienced little to no benefit on rates of postnatal depression, anxiety, infant bonding, breastfeeding, parenting satisfaction, or sense of social support.
