Keeping a healthy heart through adolescence has been linked to better health outcomes during pregnancy, say US researchers. The team looked into the Life's Essential 8 scores - a rating scale for our hearts that include: being active, not smoking, sleeping well, managing bodyweight, controlling cholesterol, managing blood sugar, and  managing blood pressure - for close to 1100 women. They found people with the lowest heart health scores had the highest rates of gestational diabetes, as well as elevated rates of developing high blood pressure disorders of pregnancy.
