Around one in 10 women and one in 20 men in Australia could be delaying or skipping medications they need because they can't afford them, according to a perspective piece by an Australian researcher. The researcher discusses Australian Bureau of Statistics data that suggests the cost of medicine is prompting Aussies to delay or not fill scripts, especially among young women. These statistics may also be understating the scale of the problem, the researcher argues, with data not available on how many Aussies are making budget sacrifices to afford their medications.
