Most people who get gender-affirming surgery (82%) are highly satisfied with it, but 94% of gender diverse people find it hard to get the surgery they want, according to a US study of 2,000 transgender and non-binary people. The researchers say barriers included cost, worries about risks and recovery, and long waiting lists. The findings highlights the need to make gender-affirming surgery more easily accessible, they conclude.
