Switching to a vegan diet can help you reduce your greenhouse gas emissions, thanks to ditching meat and dairy, according to a North American study. The study included around 240 overweight adults who were either put on a low-fat vegan diet or were told to make no diet changes. The group on the low-fat vegan diet lowered their greenhouse gas emissions by the equivalent of around 1.3kg of CO2 per person each day compared to the control group, who only lowered theirs by 0.3kg.
