Watch Europe's first total eclipse in 30 years

On Thursday, the 13th of August, Europe will experience its first total eclipse in almost 30 years. In London, the eclipse will reach over 90% and will be livestreamed by the astronomers at the Royal Observatory Greenwich. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun and blocks its light, casting a small shadow on Earth. A total eclipse occurs when the Sun is fully covered by the Moon. People interested in seeing the eclipse in Australia can tune in to the livestream in the early hours of Thursday morning, with the height of the eclipse occurring shortly after 4am AEST.
