Compression stocking can help people with swollen legs and ankles from having continuing bouts of cellulitis, a bacterial infection of the skin that tends to occur in areas that are damaged or inflamed, according to an Australian trial. The study, which was stopped early because the benefits were clear, found 15 per cent of those who wore compression garments had another bout of cellulitis compared with 40 per cent in the group who did not wear the compression stockings.
