Experienced fertility specialists do better than AI when it comes to accurately answering complex questions about fertility, according to an Australian and international study. The study looked at 12 clinical questions covering issues including egg freezing and IVF, and pitted the answers of 2 fertility doctors against the large-language models ChatGPT and Gemini. Their answers were assessed by eight other fertility docs who didn't know the source of the information they were assessing. The doctors scored the highest, followed by ChatGPT and then Gemini. The authors say that despite the growing accessibility and sophistication of AI tools, their use for individualised fertility counseling remains limited.
