Biography
Professor Jodie Rummer is a marine biologist and climate scientist at James Cook University in Townsville, Australia. Her research focusses on the effects of climate change and other anthropogenic stress on coral reef fishes, including sharks and rays, and their capacity to cope with such conditions and adapt into the future. Her team largely focusses on the effects of ocean warming over the short and longer term with increased frequency and severity of marine heatwaves and ongoing warming. They use physiological performance and stress as markers for 'winners' and 'losers' under various climate scenarios. Professor Rummer advocates for climate action and justice, equity, and diversity in STEM.Personal info
