Biography

Associate Professor Negin Nazarian studies how cities and climate interact. Cities are distinctive in the climate system: they actively reshape local weather, from heat to wind to rainfall, while also concentrating people and infrastructure in the path of climate hazards. Her research spans urban climate modelling, urban heat and overheating, urban wind and ventilation, and the growing influence of cities on the weather around them, alongside the role of human activity and urban design in shaping these outcomes. She leads the Climate-Resilient Cities Lab at UNSW, is a Lead Author on the IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Cities, and helps lead Australia's national urban climate research agenda.
