Biography

Professor Hussein Dia is a leading Australian expert in transport technology, sustainable mobility, and urban transport decarbonisation. His research focuses on the intersection of transport, energy, infrastructure, and digital technologies, with particular expertise in electric vehicles, future mobility systems, intelligent transport systems, and AI applications in transport.

He is recognised internationally for his work on sustainable and low-carbon transport solutions and has been consistently ranked among the world’s top 2% most cited scientists in Logistics and Transportation in the Stanford University Global Citation Rankings since 2019.

Professor Dia has authored more than 250 publications, including influential books on intelligent transport systems, low-carbon mobility, and artificial intelligence in transportation. He is a frequent media commentator on transport, energy security, electric vehicles, and infrastructure policy.

He has held senior academic and industry leadership roles, including Chair of Civil Engineering and Deputy Director of the Smart Cities Research Institute at Swinburne University, and previously held technical leadership positions at AECOM and Aurecon.
