Biography

Dr Musgrave is a molecular pharmacologist/toxicologist who works at the University of Adelaide, Australia. He has a broad interest in neurodegeneration, natural product pharmacology and drug design. He was the Chair of the Toxicology Special Interest Group of the Australasian Society for Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Toxicology from 20020-2024. He is now the Education representative for the Toxicology Special Interest Group. He was also on the nominating committee of the International Union of Toxicology.
Postdoctoral work at the Institute of Pharmacology at the Free University of Berlin in 1991-1994 was followed by a return to Australia, where he collaborated with Professor John Carver, Dr. Scot Smid and Professor Colin Barrow on using natural products to attack neurodegeneration. He has collaborated with Professors Roger Byard and Michael Bunce on an NHMRC-funded project on adulteration and contamination of herbal medicines with several high-profile publications resulting. His work on the contamination of herbal products continues and he has provided advice to the TGA and SA health.
