Previous media experience
I have extensive media experience across major national and international platforms, where I regularly provide expert commentary on complex sociolegal and bioethical issues. My engagement spans television, radio, podcasts, and print/online publications.
Key areas of frequent media contribution include:
Health Regulation & Emerging Technologies: I am consistently sought out for insights on the governance and legal implications of new medical technologies, including high-profile cases like IVF mix-ups, the booming industry and safety concerns surrounding cosmetic injectables (Botox, botulism), the regulation of drugs like Ozempic, gene editing, stem cells, and xenotransplantation (pig kidney transplants).
Health Practitioner Law: My expertise extends to professional conduct, advertising standards for health professionals, public safety, and duties of care, as demonstrated by commentary on cases involving neurosurgeons and crackdowns on practitioner misconduct.
Mental Health Law & Social Security: I frequently provide legal analysis on novel therapeutic approaches in mental health, criminal defences such as 'sleepwalking' (parasomnia) and 'sexsomnia', and the broader implications of social security law, including extensive commentary on the Robodebt Royal Commission and unlawful welfare debt calculations.
Bioethical & Public Health Challenges: I contribute to discussions on critical bioethical dilemmas, such as embryo research, mitochondrial donation, end-of-life care (voluntary assisted dying), and public health measures like COVID-19 reporting.
My media presence highlights an ability to translate intricate legal and ethical concepts into accessible information for a wide audience, covering both breaking news and in-depth analyses.
