Biography

Dr Angela Spence is a research and teaching academic with training in cardiovascular physiology, exercise and sport science. Angela’s research addresses the current knowledge gap in women’s heart health and female athlete performance. With expertise in cardiac and vascular in vivo imaging, she undertakes studies to better understand female-specific responses to exercise, which informs the design of fit-for-purpose exercise interventions in women, across their lifespan. As a passionate, award-winning educator, Angela teaches exercise physiology, delivery and prescription, supervises postgraduate research students and mentors young women in sport science. She holds accreditation with Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA) and is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Curtin School of Allied Health.
