Biography

Dr Aland Astudillo's background is in biomedical engineering, neuroscience and machine learning. He finished his studies in BSc. in Biomedical Engineering and MSc. Biomedical Engineering at Universidad de Valparaiso, Valparaiso, Chile. He contributed in projects in industry and research in the areas of medical technology and public health in the industry space. In parallel he contributed in research in the areas of computational neuroscience and vision. He received his PhD. in Biophysics and Computational Biology in Universidad de Valparaiso, Chile working in brain activity modelling. During his PhD he additionally contributed in projects involving cognition and language, and the physiology of stress. He supported the Chilean National Health Agency during pandemics as project engineer and data analyst. Later, he participated in a research-government interdisciplinary project as data scientist to apply deep learning for breast cancer prioritisation system for mammography images. Since 2023 he has worked in NICM Health Research Institute, Western Sydney University contributing in projects related to cognition and dementia, in Swinburne University of Technology as data scientist expert and in Research Graph Foundation as AI and data expert. Currently he works as data scientist in industry at Clevvi developing applications and AI to support digital transformation of organisations and government agencies.
