Lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer and asexual young people experience sexual violence at much higher rates than the general population their age, according to a US study. Surveying just over 2,000 young people, the researchers asked about experiences with verbal, online and physical sexual harassment and forced sex. Queer people experienced all forms of sexual violence at higher rates, with just under one in eight reporting forced sex compared to one in 50 among the general population. Just over one in eight queer people reported experiencing physically aggressive sexual harassment compared to one in 15 among the general population.
