Current methods to try and address the overconsumption of alcohol aren't focusing enough on drinking at home, according to Australian researchers. In an opinion piece, the researchers outline recent studies that show the COVID-19 pandemic and its role in increasing the popularity of alcohol home delivery services could be exacerbating the problem of drinking too much at home. While they say research has shown young people are less likely to need to prove their age when ordering alcohol to their home, drinking at home is more prevalent among older generations. The researchers say more studies need to be done on the role home drinking plays in alcohol-related harm in Australia, and what can be done about it.
