There's been a decline in the drinking of alcohol among young people in recent years, and Australian researchers say there's a lot we still don't know about why, and what impact it will have. In an editorial, the researchers discuss a range of recent studies on the topic, with one finding boys were stronger drivers of the decline in drinking, another finding some young people are choosing weed instead of alcohol, and another investigating how the drinking decline could partially be a result of increased anxiety and loneliness among young people. The researchers conclude that there's still plenty of research to be done to better understand this trend, and just how much the role of alcohol in a young person's life has changed.
