Pro-cannabis content dominates the social media discussion on medical cannabis in the US, according to an analysis by Australian researchers. The team sampled tweets from across the US to compare the types of discussions people are having on social media in places where cannabis is fully legalised, illegal and legal for medical use only. The researchers say the most common topic of conversation was cannabis policy, especially in places where the drug is illegal. Second most common were tweets about the therapeutic value of medical cannabis, with about 3-4% of these tweets providing research. Third most common were tweets about sales and promotion of medical cannabis, even in places where it was illegal.
