What are the barriers to accessing medicinal cannabis?

Access to medicinal cannabis could be improved by addressing the rural-city divide in access to healthcare, decoupling recreational and medical cannabis use, and addressing the views of health professionals and broader society, according to an analysis of submissions to a 2019 Senate Community Affairs References Committee Inquiry. The analysis found that the views of government and health bodies on the regulation and access to medicinal cannabis were largely at odds with those of patients, advocacy groups and industry, largely because of how the two groups viewed the need for evidence. However, there were factors that stakeholders had in common.
