Artificial intelligence (AI) voices are likely to seem more trustworthy and likeable if they sound like our own voice, according to international research. The researchers used a series of online experiments to test AI voice technology, including surveying participants about whether they perceived different voices to be likeable and trustworthy. An AI voice designed to sound like an 'average' person's voice was considered no more or less trustworthy and likeable, the researchers say, however when participants were played a voice that was similar to their own, they were more likely to rate that voice as trustworthy and likeable.
