Virtual reality (VR) could help people get into exercise, with a small UK and Australian study showing people doing a boxing class while wearing immersive VR did more intense exercise and enjoyed it more. The researchers had 17 people complete a 12-minute guided VR boxing exercise session in FitXR™ and a screen-based equivalent. They found that people using VR did more intense and reportedly more enjoyable exercise, with more positive emotions, compared to a workout presented on-screen. The researchers say immersive VR could be offered as a gateway into exercise.
