Researchers say that studies could be missing the mark on how many smokers quit by using vapes. They studied more than 6,000 US smokers, with their unadjusted data appearing to favour the daily use of e-cigarettes in quitting tobacco. However, when they took into account major confounding factors like interest in quitting, income, and presence of a smoke-free home, they found that vaping was actually associated with reduced tobacco abstinence.
