Protection against Omicron infection and symptomatic Omicron for children aged five to 11 soon after their second dose is about 50 per cent, according to a study in Israel. The researchers matched 130,000 recently vaccinated children with 95,000 unvaccinated controls during Israel's Omicron wave, and say one to three weeks after vaccination, protection against infection was 51 per cent and against symptomatic COVID-19 was 48 per cent.
