Trans and non-binary teens are almost twice as likely to experience sexual violence as cisgender teens (who identify with the gender they were assigned at birth), according to an international survey. The survey asked nearly 5,000 young people aged 14-16 whether they had experienced or perpetrated rape, sexual assault or coercive sex. Of the participants, 329 were transgender and 582 were nonbinary, and the researchers say there was no difference in the rates of perpetration of sexual violence between trans, non-binary and cis teens.
