Superspreading fuelled NZ’s Covid-19 outbreak

One in five New Zealand adults with Covid-19 were responsible for up to 85 per cent of the virus’ transmission. That’s according to researchers who have analysed the virus’s spread through the country last year in detail. They say targeting superspreaders or superspreading events - like restricting gathering sizes, particularly in closed environments or crowded spaces - could be particularly effective in reducing the spread.
