Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder is common, yet most health, education and justice professionals may lack knowledge and training in FASD, and stigma continues, according to an NZ-authored international review that included Australian and NZ data. The team says existing research suggests poor knowledge of FASD criteria, even among many health professionals - aside from pediatric staff. The authors say more training and resources are needed, along with monitoring of gaps in awareness and practices to assist people with this disorder.
