The fifth instalment of the joint Bureau of Meteorology and CSIRO State of the Climate report shows Australia is experiencing more frequent heat events, marine heatwaves and an increase in extreme fire weather.

The fifth instalment of the joint Bureau of Meteorology and CSIRO State of the Climate report will be released this Thursday 20 December

It shows Australia is experiencing more frequent heat events, marine heatwaves and an increase in extreme fire weather.

Interested journalists are invited to take part in this embargoed briefing with experts from both organisations.

Speakers:

  • Dr Karl Braganza is Manager of Climate Monitoring, Bureau of Meteorology
  • Dr Helen Cleugh is Director of the Climate Science Centre, CSIRO
