Small amounts of alcohol could decrease your dementia risk

Anyone who has had a big night on the tiles knows that booze can mess with your memory, but new research from Korea suggests sustained drinking of fewer than three standard drinks a day may reduce your risk of developing dementia, compared to non drinkers. The study found that people who sustained a mild amount of drinking (less than 1.5 standard drinks a day) and moderate drinking (less than three standard drinks a day) decreased the risk of dementia. Heavy drinking (three or more drinks a day) increased the risk of dementia. They also found that cutting back from heavy drinking to moderate drinking could decrease your dementia risk.
