Ireland is set to introduce labels on alcoholic drinks warning about the links between alcohol and cancer, but alcohol-exporting countries, including Australia and New Zealand, have expressed concerns about the warning labels being a burden on international trade. Now, Australian researchers say that even if countries aren't ready to introduce the labels themselves, they should at least refrain from criticising and opposing Ireland’s progressive alcohol and cancer warnings, which are backed up with international evidence, supported by the World health Organization (WHO), and consistent with  World Trade Organization (WTO) law.
